Ecotherapy
"Nature is the perfect setting for healing trauma."
-Ariel Giarretto, teacher, Somatic Experiencing
Outdoor 1:1 therapy sessions
I offer 1:1 therapeutic sessions in natural woodlands and outdoor spaces. These sessions are similar to regular therapy sessions although we may 'walk and talk' or sit amongst the natural environment. During the sessions we may utilise the resource of the nature & outdoors as part of the therapeutic work.
I offer regular ongoing weekly sessions of 1 hour in nature - and these can also be part of your ongoing therapeutic journey. please contact me to arrange an initial conversation.

The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness."

More About Ecotherapy?
Ecotherapy is an umbrella term for a diverse variety of nature-based restorative practices which can include Horticultural Initiatives, Wilderness Experiences, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Walking Therapy, Nature Awareness and many more. It takes into account the latest scientific understandings of our universe and the deepest indigenous wisdom. This perspective reveals the critical fact that people are intimately connected with, embedded in, and inseparable from the rest of nature.
The Mental Health charity MIND commissioned research in 2013 to study the impact of nature-based therapeutic interventions and found that: "it’s clear that ecotherapy has a role to play in building and supporting our wellbeing and resilience, and keeping us all healthy. There are tangible mental wellbeing benefits from being physically active and ecotherapy seems to do this without the participant even realising it."
1:1 Nature Immersion Days
I offer longer therapeutic sessions in nature, akin to the Japanese idea of 'shinrin-yoku' - forest bathing. These are one-off sessions and can be half day/full day. You may have a particular issue you'd like to work through, or simply like to feel deeply nourished in the resource of nature. I may offer specific nature-based exercises as well as outdoor Mindfulness practices.
Please contact me to arrange.
